Volunteer Attorney Services (VAS), a local nonprofit offering free or low-cost legal assistance, was expanding its reach into Kittitas County. They needed a new name and brand that aligned with this growth, better represented the organization, and resonated with their primary audience: Hispanic-Latino community members.
There were three key goals for this rebranding effort:
After meeting to brainstorm potential names, we researched their availability for URLs and social media handles, as well as how they would resonate with Spanish speakers.
Drawing inspiration from the brainstorming session and the client’s goals, we created five logos with unique color palettes. Some played into the word “legal,” using images representing justice, while others drew inspiration from the surrounding area. We reviewed these logos with the client to determine their preferred direction and refined the selected logo from there.
Central Washington Legal Aid was born. “Central Washington” not only captures their current geographical presence but allows for further expansion in the area, while “Legal Aid” is easily understood and translated between English and Spanish.
Bold lettering evoking the greens of the area is both eye-catching and approachable. A rich color palette with yellow, deep purple, and salmon promotes a professional feel while maintaining approachability.
We built their new website using this brand and they have continued to implement it in social media, e-newsletters, physical handouts, and more using the provided brand guidelines.
